Najif Ismail was born on 10th April 1984 in a small industrial city of Pakistan named Wazirabad. Najif studied for his secondary school qualification at Government High School Wazirabad and studied at Moulana Zafar Ali Khan Government Degree College Wazirabad towards his F.Sc. pre-engineering qualification. Later, he completed B.Sc. Civil Engineering with first class honors and then M.Sc. Civil Engineering with distinction from the University of Engineering and Technology at Taxila, Pakistan. Najif is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Auckland. Najif’s doctoral study is funded by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. During his doctoral studies he participated in a research project funded by the New Zealand Foundation for Research Science and Technology that investigated the development of guidelines for the seismic assessment and retrofit of earthquake prone unreinforced masonry buildings. Currently, he is involved in a project on learning from the experiences of recent 2010/2011 Canterbury (New Zealand) earthquake swarm. He is also a member of ASCE-41 code committee’s masonry issue team. |
